If you’re looking for the most magical way to kick off the holiday season, Dickens on Main is the Boerne tradition you can’t miss! Every Thanksgiving Weekend, downtown Boerne transforms into a vintage holiday wonderland packed with lights, entertainment, food, shopping, Christmas magic… and even SNOW on Main Street!

Our family has gone every year since moving to Boerne. Truthfully? We’ve experienced it all — years where it was freezing cold, years where it was rainy, and years where it felt like summer in November — and the festivities always go on. No matter the weather, it’s one of the most magical weekends of the year for families.

⭐ What to Expect at Dickens on Main

Main Street closes down completely, and the entire area is transformed into four themed villages:

✨ North Pole Village

📍 Main Plaza – 100 N. Main
Snowfall near The Dienger, Birds of Prey shows, live music, tree lighting, and the famous Ice Carving Shows!

✨ Dickens Village

📍 157 S. Main
Local performers, dance studios, theaters, cheer groups, and readings of The Night Before Christmas.

✨ South Pole Village

📍 437 S. Main
Face painting, toys, funnel cakes, kettle corn, food + drinks, and a fun trackless train.

✨ Tiny Tim Village

📍 East San Antonio Ave
Santa photos, kids crafts, inflatables, games, and another train ride — this is the best place for little kids.

🎅 Visits With Santa

Located in Tiny Tim Village, Santa is there from 3–8 PM both days. The line can get long at peak times, but it’s worth it!

🎨 Free Kids Crafts

Right next to Santa! It’s 100% free — just expect crowds between 4–6 PM.

❄️ SNOW on Main Street

Near The Dienger Trading Co.
This is always a highlight for the kids. It’s magical, even if it turns your toddler into an excited, snow-covered marshmallow.

🔥 Ice Carving Shows & Battles

These always draw huge crowds — the artists are amazing, and the kids LOVE watching sculptures appear in real time.

🦅 Birds of Prey Shows

At the North Pole Gazebo — Last Chance Forever puts on an incredible educational performance.

🛍️ Supporting Local Shops

One of my favorite parts is popping into our local stores while everything is glowing and decorated for Christmas. It’s the perfect weekend to get a jumpstart on holiday shopping.
