☀️ Mom's Morning Out: My Favorite Places to Recharge After School Drop-Off

By Saige Diaz | August 6, 2026

The kids are back in school... and whether you're heading straight to work, homeschooling one little while the others are at school, or suddenly found yourself with a quiet morning for the first time all summer, I wanted to share a few of my favorite places around Boerne.

These are the spots I'd actually recommend to my best friend.

☕ Grab a Cozy Coffee

🤎 Selah Cafe

If you ask me where to get coffee in Boerne, Selah is always at the top of my list. They have some of the best tasting coffee in town, and I LOVE that they make their own homemade syrups. It's the perfect place to slow down, catch up on emails, read a book, journal, or meet a friend.

And here's a bonus for the moms who still have a little one at home: Selah has a playground in the back, so you can actually enjoy your coffee while your toddler plays. It's one of my favorite spots when I have one of my younger kiddos with me because everyone gets a little break.

🥐 Bear Moon Bakery

If you've lived in Boerne for any amount of time, this recommendation probably isn't a surprise. Bear Moon has been voted Favorite Bakery in the Boerne Family Favorites for three years in a row, and after one visit, it's easy to understand why.

I absolutely love their fig bars and breakfast sandwiches, but honestly... you really can't go wrong with anything in the bakery case. Everything is fresh, delicious, and the atmosphere is so cozy. It's one of those places that just feels like Boerne.

🥐 The Dienger Trading Co.

Y'all... I recently tried their croissant cinnamon roll and I cannot stop thinking about it. It's buttery, flaky, perfectly sweet, and absolutely worth ordering.

If you're an early bird, don't miss their weekday breakfast special! Monday through Friday until 8:30 a.m., you can enjoy breakfast for just $9.99—about 50% off the regular price. It's one of my favorite local deals and such a fun way to start the morning before running errands or heading to work.

🚗 Brevity Coffee

Need coffee before grocery shopping or while running errands? Brevity is my go-to because of the drive-thru. I LOVE their cream sodas, and if you haven't tried one of their homemade Pop-Tarts yet... put it on your list. They're seriously so good.

🥥 Fuel Your Morning

🩷 Playa Bowls

Back-to-school always feels like a fresh start, and Playa Bowls is one of my favorite places when I'm trying to get back into healthier habits.

I usually order the Pitaya Smoothie, but their açaí bowls are delicious too. It's one of those breakfasts that leaves you feeling refreshed instead of weighed down.

💪 Maybe This Is Your Semester

Now that the kids are back in school...

Maybe this is the season you finally:

  • Join a gym.

  • Try a yoga or Pilates class.

  • Start walking the Cibolo trails.

  • Read that book that's been sitting on your nightstand.

  • Enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee before the afternoon chaos begins.

Sometimes one quiet hour to yourself can make all the difference.

🌴 Make It Feel Like a Staycation

Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort

One of our family's favorite places to spend time is Tapatio Springs. We're members, and I love that it gives us a little getaway without ever leaving Boerne.

Lately, I've been learning to play golf! I've taken a few lessons, and my next goal is to spend more time at the driving range. I definitely have a lot to learn, but it's been so much fun trying something new.

I also love spending time by the pool with an iced drink in hand. It's one of my favorite ways to slow down and enjoy a peaceful afternoon.

They also have a fitness center with a steam room, plus fitness classes throughout the week. Those classes are definitely something I aspire to make part of my regular routine this season. Maybe this fall is the perfect time to finally make it happen!

When I'm hungry, we almost always end up at La Cascada Table & Bar. My favorites are the burger and their salads. The food is delicious, and you really can't beat the Hill Country views while you eat.

Another thing I love is that Tapatio hosts fun member events throughout the year, including Mahjong meetups, which are such a great way to meet other people in the community.

If you've been thinking about becoming a member, Social Memberships are a great option. You don't have to be a golfer to enjoy everything Tapatio has to offer. Between the pool, fitness center, restaurant, member events, and beautiful property, it really feels like having a little vacation spot right here in Boerne.

🛍️ Wander Main Street

One of my favorite things to do is simply stroll Main Street without someone asking me for snacks every five minutes. 😂

🩷 Handmade on Main

One of my favorite places to browse for handmade gifts, home décor, and unique finds. It's the perfect first stop if you're spending a morning downtown.

🥪 Klein Smokehaus

If you're downtown around lunchtime, walk over to Klein Smokehaus.

My order every single time? The Poor Boy Sandwich. I also LOVE their broccoli salad—it's the perfect side and one I find myself craving.

And can we talk about their bacon?

I know this sounds dramatic... but I honestly think they have some of the best bacon in America. 😂 If you've never tried it, you have to.

Whether you're grabbing lunch to go or taking your time downtown, Klein's is one of those Boerne staples that's always worth the stop.

👗 La Te Da

La Te Da is just plain fun. It's colorful, playful, and one of my favorite shops to wander through on Main Street. Whether you're looking for a unique gift, something fun for your home, or just want to browse, it's one of those stores that always makes me smile.

💙 Ella Blue

If you're looking for trendy, stylish clothes, Ella Blue is definitely worth stopping into. They always have cute pieces that make me think, "Okay... one day when I'm not pregnant or in the postpartum stage anymore!" 😂

Even if I'm not shopping for myself that day, I still love popping in to see what's new and get a little style inspiration.

🏡 Linen & Dove

If you love decorating your home or finding thoughtful gifts, Linen & Dove is definitely worth a stop. I always leave inspired... and wanting to redecorate a room!

🍣 A New Lunch Spot to Try

248 Chateau

If you haven't heard, they recently added a Thai and Sushi food truck!

I've been hearing great things, especially if you're a sushi lover like me. I tried their Thai Tea Lemonade—it was really good (although I still prefer the original Thai tea 😊). Their sushi is definitely on my list to try next!

🍴 Lunch With a Friend

If you've got a free afternoon...

🥗 Bumdoodlers

Whether you grab takeout or stay inside, it has such a hometown Boerne feel. It's one of my favorite places to catch up with a friend over lunch.

🐔 Chicken Salad Chick

One of my favorite quick lunch stops. The drive-thru makes it so easy when you're squeezing lunch between errands.

☀️ Sunny's

If you're looking for something with a little more elevated atmosphere, Sunny's is one of my favorites. Great food, beautiful space, and the perfect place to slow down and enjoy lunch with a friend.

📚 Book Lover Morning

If you love books as much as I do, make time to stop by The Boerne Bookshop. They're hosting Author Alley this Saturday, where you can meet local authors, discover your next great read, and spend a relaxing morning downtown.

💛 A Little Reminder

Back-to-school isn't just a fresh start for our kids.

It's a fresh start for us, too.

Maybe this is the semester you make time for yourself again.

Maybe you finally read more books.

Maybe you meet a friend for coffee once a week.

Maybe you start that workout class you've been thinking about.

Maybe you wander Main Street without rushing.

Maybe you simply enjoy a quiet breakfast before the school pickup line begins again.

Whatever this season looks like for you, I hope you remember this:

You matter too.

So here's your permission slip, mama.

After drop-off this week, treat yourself to that coffee, browse your favorite boutique, grab lunch with a friend, or simply enjoy a little quiet.

Because taking care of yourself isn't selfish—it's something every mom deserves. ❤️
